As a Cedar Rapids wedding photographer, I often feel like the luckiest photographer on the planet because I get the amazing opportunity to work with fabulous people like Erin and Bastián. They met in a castle in Chile; he’s a doctor and model, she’s brilliant and bold. It was something out of a fairy tale and their Cedar Rapids wedding captured every bit of magic and beauty in their love story. I was honored to get to know Erin and Bastián, their families, and work alongside my very favorite, Adam Covington, who designed their wedding into one of the most spectacular I’ve ever seen. I have said it before, but Covington and Company creates magical events and should be given the reigns to every wedding; the product is always rather breathtaking.

I loved Erin’s bouquet. The colors and floral design was absolutely gorgeous.

Erin looked stunning in her dress and Bastián was as handsome as ever.

How adorable are these two?

Erin’s bridesmaids all wore different dressed, which I thought was so perfect. One of her bridesmaids, in particular, made her own dress!

The pastor who married Erin and Bastián carved the box that Bastián is holding and his wife hand painted Erina and Bastián’s wedding logo (the cute little birds) onto the box so they had a special place to keep all of their memories.

The decor was absolutely amazing!!

This was one of those weddings that reminded me of why I love being a Cedar Rapids wedding photographer. Erin and Bastián I wish you all the best for years and years to come!

I remember sitting in the corner of our coffee shop, scheming about diamond rings and puffy dresses with McKenzie. We both had plans to marry our current significant others, whether or not they knew that I can’t remember. After co-barista-ing with McKenzie and getting to know her class and charm, I was delighted to have the opportunity to shoot their engagement + wedding. It was an affair that matched the creative design both McKenzie and her husband, Michael, have always shared. McKenzie’s style unveils in a flair for fashion and aesthetic. Michael is studying architectural design and can craft and mold all things intricate and unique from different kinds of metals.

Every little detail woven into their day was placed with intention and beauty, as would be expected from these two.

This was one of my favorite engagement sessions ever: perfect light, gorgeous couple, and a summer evening that only comes around once or twice a year in Iowa. MacKenzie and Stu live in Boston and head up a band called This Blue Heaven. Check out their tunes and enjoy a few photos from their session.

Watch a video we made from their engagement session, featuring music from This Blue Heaven.
